A Digital Master Key for All Locks
For those who find keeping track of their keys a tough and tedious job, here is good news. Experts have come up with a digital master key that is going to make people’s lives a lot easier. As per a report released on March 8, 2010, computer giant apple is all set to revolutionize the traditional door key with the introduction of a hi-tech alternative nicknamed the “ikey”. It means that people can stop carrying around a bunch of keys, and instead use a single electronic device to unlock their cars, front doors and gain access to their offices. The technology simply requires the users to enter a pin code and wave the device over an electronic pad fitted beside a door to open it. It device can communicate with an external device to open a lock. By way of example, the electronic device may be a model of an iPhone. In a home, householders would need to install electronic, computer controlled locks on their doors. The iPhone would need to be registered with the locks on that they could communicate with each other. By rotating the iPhone near the electronic lock, consumers then select their pin numbers on a dial displayed on the screen, as if entering a communication entered matched the one held by the electronic lock, the door would open. If not, an alarm could be sounded or alerts sent to the home owners to gain unauthorized entry. For safety purposes, the device may be attributed with a feature to encrypt any information that passes between the iPhone and the computer-controlled lock, preventing hackers from stealing the information

On March 15,2010 ,the Internet celebrated a landmark event the 25th anniversary of the day the dotcom domain name was registered .It was precisely two and a half decades ago March 5,1985 that the first dotcom domain name Symbolics.com appeared on the Internet ,ushering in the commercial age of the World Wide Web (WWW).
Having a domain name made it simpler for the average person to access a website. With the birth of the dotcom domain, instead of having to remember a long series of numbers, one could simply type in IBM.com or BBC.com and access the site. The development was slow, initially. It took two years for the first 100 sites to go online. But from those humble beginnings, the Internet has grown to more than 80 million dotcom domain names today, according to the Information Technology &Innovation Foundation (ITIF).
Crunching the numbers, 99.9 percent to all Internet growth has occurred over the past 15 years. In this context, the ITIF report said, “The global diffusion of the commercial Internet has occurred with astounding speed”.
